The Ghost-Hunter is the 55th episode of Season 1, and was remade as the 5th episode of Season 7 under the title Ghost Hunting. After Oggy finishes them off once and for all with a frying pan, the cockroaches come back as ghosts and constantly make nightmares a reality for poor old Oggy. Will Oggy be able to put down this paranormal paranoia he has created, and how will he do it - or is it all over for his sanity?
Plot[]
While the near petrified Oggy was watching a 1940s era giant monster movie, the claw that seems to resemble the one from the monster pokes Oggy, Oggy at first believes it’s the monster from the film and hides under the pillow, but it turns out the cockroaches were just playing a joke on him once again, resulting in Oggy angrily retaliating and chasing them into the kitchen, armed with a frying pan. Oggy smells chicken however the chicken starts moving, however Oggy has learned the gist of the cockroaches and peeks inside to see the cockroaches waving at him, Oggy waves at them back, but then he takes his frying pan and flattens it completely - with the cockroaches inside, killing them instantly while Oggy successfully smiles.
Oggy prepares the makeshift coffin - a matchbox for the deceased bodies of the cockroaches, and buries them in Oggy's front yard using an excavator. After Oggy put the excavator back, the moon is covered with dark clouds and the spirits of the cockroaches emerge from their grave and cause paranormal mayhem for Oggy.
Firstly, they levitate toothpaste into his nose; form a female version of Oggy, or Olivia in the remake version, a contact kiss causes Oggy's face to be covered in boils; he gets swatted by Marky and flung by Dee Dee into a virtual area filled with infants that resembled Oggy's appearance; afterward on of the diapers are filled and ghost Dee Dee spits a pacifier into Oggy's eye. Oggy gets scared and runs while multiple ghosts are chasing him, he tries to get out via the door handle, but the cockroaches morph into a stick of dynamite and place it in Oggy’s pocket, blowing him through the wall.
Oggy locks himself in the toilet area, traumatized, but the paranormal activity doesn't stop there - however the spirits make 2 copies of the toilets alive and tickle Oggy, causing him to dance - however he stops when he realizes he’s suddenly in a theater, the audience which are just duplicates of the ghost cockroaches boo Oggy, making him cry but then when he hears the echoed laughter of the cockroaches, he realizes it’s all a mirage.
Whilst Dee Dee's spirit levitates the fridge so he can eat, Oggy finds a book and hides in the closet. Inside the book are pages of how to return the cockroaches back to their bodies using a special green and purple patterned disk mat and green liquid. He then excavated the coffin from the front yard and obtains the "resurrection" materials.
Oggy pours the liquid on top of the cockroaches coffin on top of the disk, whilst reading gibberish like prayer commands from the book. The spirits (who are present) are confused as the disk activates, causing storm clouds to come and the cockroaches laughing at their corpses, Oggy's banjo playing causes the supernatural cloud vortex to levitate the house, and the cockroaches spirits are struck by lightning and return to the bodies. The vortex ends, Oggy falls, breaking his banjo string, and the deceased bodies of the roaches come back to life, much to the euphoric relief for Oggy. It almost got undone when a falling TV squashes them, but they survived happily and laughed along with Oggy.
In the end, Oggy and the cockroaches enjoy watching the now-laughable horror movie, but they do so on the enchanted disk mat which activates, causing both the storm clouds to come back and causing the monsters in the movie to emerge from the floor, Oggy and the roaches scream in terror.
Changes in French version[]
- When the curtains come out, it says "Oggy LE SHOW" instead of OGGY SHOW.
Trivia[]
- The original version shows a female copy of Oggy, but in Season 7, it's Olivia.
- The original title card shows the souls of Dee Dee, Marky & Joey. The revised title card now shows gravestones in Oggy's yard, honoring Dee Dee, Marky & Joey, while ominous green fog goes around the yard.
- The Arabic version's title implies that this episode's events weren't real and that it was a nightmare Oggy had instead. Despite this, no changes are made to the episode (aside from a slight censorship with Oggy's female copy).
Errors[]
- In the revised title card, Marky’s grave says “Marty” instead of “Marky”.
- In both the original and revised, when the spirits are coming into Oggy's house, the house was flipped.
- In original, Female Oggy has no lips when she is kissing Oggy
- In original and remake, Oggy’s mouth was missing when Oggy need to touch the handle.
- At the end of the original episode, Joey's eyes were gone. It was fixed in the revised episode.
